چکیده

introduction: the sexual maturity is a major factor of fertility and reproduction activity. since no information was availabe about microscopic developement of seminiferous tubules structure including spermatogenic cells, sertoli, pgc (primordial germ cell) and laydig cells, the present detailed study on buffalo testis was undertaken. materials and methods: the present study was made on 30 buffaloes testes, divided into four groups viz. 1) 3.5-6 months 2) 7-11 months 3) 12-23 months 4) 24-36 months. tissue samples were processed for paraffin section and stained by haematoxylin and eosin stains. results: the microscopic observation showed that the seminiferous tubules had tubular structure with a define lumen at 3.5 months of age and their epithelium was consisted of abundant spermatogonia, pgc and sertoli cells. the primary and secondary spermatocyte, spermatid and spermatozoa were not seen upto 9 months of age. the coiling and thickness of seminiferous tubules were increased at one year of age. the leydig cells were seen as large clusters in interstitial connective tissue, pgc, sertoli cells, spermatogonia, primary and secondary spermatocyte, spermatid and spermatozoa also were observed in one year age. the development of seminiferous structure were observed continiued with the age. conclusion: the results showed that, the perfect spermatogenesis and production of spermatozoa is observed in one year age, which it seems similar to cow (10-11 monthsage).

PDE expression and contractility of seminiferous tubules of the human testis

Background In the human testis, myofibroblasts are the main cellular components of the lamina propria of seminiferous tubules. These cells are crucial for the transport of immature sperm towards the epididymis. In many cases of disturbed spermatogenesis, the peritubular lamina propria is considerably thickened, with an increase of extracellular components, resembling fibrotic changes in other o...

The movement of fluid in the seminiferous tubules and rete testis

rat has been studied. Differences in ionic, steroid and protein concentrations in the two fluids suggest that two different fluids are secreted, but from the numbers of sperm and the concentrations of inositol, it now seems more likely that all the fluid is secreted in the seminiferous tubules but that its composition is modified as it passes through the tubuli recti or when it reaches the rete...

O-6: Maturation of Spermatogenic Cells in Artificial Seminiferous Tubules

Background This study aimed to investigate whether Artificial Seminiferous Tubules (AST) coated with testicular extra cellular matrix (ECM) support maturation of spermatogenic cells from immature testes. MaterialsAndMethods Medical grade tubes coated with testicular ECM were used. Testes from immature mice were loaded in the concentration of 10000- 20000/ml. Tubes were then immersed in germ cel...

P-4: Effect of Chronic Stress on Stereological Properties of Seminiferous Tubules in Adult Male Rats

Background Male fertility and reproduction can affect by stress. The means by which stress influences reproduction is not clearly understood. The aim of the present study was to examine, using stereological methods, the role of glucocorticoids during chronic restraint stress on spermatogenesis. MaterialsAndMethods Twenty four male adult Sprague- Dawley rats were allocated to four equal groups; ...

The Morphology of the Seminiferous Tubules of Mammalia

At the Cleveland meeting of the American Association of Anatomists, (1912-1913), Curtis1 reported on wax plate reconstructions of the seminiferous tubules of the white mouse, presenting figures of a model of an entire tubule having an actual length of somewhat over 13 em. The tubule completely reconstructed presents the form of an arch, the two ends of the arch lying in close proximity, each te...

THE AMERICAN JOURNAL OF ANATOMY 165:13-25 (1982) Morphometric Studies on Rat Seminiferous Tubules

The goal of this morphometric study was to obtain quantitative information on the seminiferous tubules of Sprague-Dawley rats, including changes seen at various stages of the cycle of the seminiferous epithelium. Tissue from perfusion-fixed testes was embedded in Epon-Araldite; and sections were subjected to morphometric measurements at the light microscopic level, using point counting for volu...
